A Tampa Bay industrial real estate broker created an online marketing platform for commercial properties to bring them out of the technology Stone Age. Rick Narkiewicz, the first vice president of CBRE Group Inc. in Tampa, founded Space Shifter, a database of commercial properties.
“It’s a well-known fact that our industry is in the Stone Ages when it comes to marketing,” Narkiewicz said. “Commercial real estate is 15 years behind the times when it comes to marketing, and we have solved that problem.”
There are 175 registered users and more than 12 million square feet of active industrial listings on the website in Tampa Bay. Users range from one-person real estate shops to big brokerage houses. The service is free to use right now, but Narkiewicz said he eventually plans to charge fees for the service. He said he wants to keep those fees at or below half of the price charged by similar services, such as LoopNet and CoStar.
