Technology researchers working for Yahoo have begun creating apps that show users how to get from point A to point B. But these apps offer users a unique experience: the most beautiful route possible by compiling scenery preferences from thousands of people over time, extracting what is deemed ‘the pretty’ way to navigate between each street and putting all the streets together.
While a great concept, the app has some serious hurdles to traverse. It took four months of participant surveys to get enough data to map the example city of London, showing a serious time crunch when expanding to future areas, especially ones with less occupants such as rural towns. Still, the app received positive reviews and will definitely have a place among nature lovers in the future.
