Home Depot released optimistic earnings this quarter and reported surprising growth. The chain found that its sales of big ticket items beat forecast expectations. Simultaneously, the company has increased foot traffic and has had a greater e-commerce presence, making the quarter somewhat of an anomaly in the industry.
According to chief financial officer Carol Tome, the spending on big ticket items like appliances, laminate flooring and home installation of other products is indicative of the well-being of the industry. The company sees rates of home-price appreciation this year as a positive sign for the company.
