In a surging American auto industry, one major company has been notably left behind. General Motors' sales dropped 1.2 percent compared to August of last year, causing them to slip behind competitors like Chrysler.
While GM’s sales of passenger cars fell, the company’s sale of trucks and SUVs through its GMC brand grew 10 percent. GM said the company is happy with its performance and is optimistic about the sales of high-margin trucks. However, it may be facing aggressive pricing and promotion competition from Chrysler.
