If you're a food truck lover in Gainesville, you're in luck! Earlier this month, the Gainesville City Commission passed the amendment to increase the number of food truck-related events within the Central City District. The old permit allowed food tuck events to be help once every 60 days, but the new amendment will allow events to be held once every month. The events will be limited to private property and can be held between 5 p.m. and midnight.
This Central City District includes the historic core of Gainesville. The city decided to make these changes due to the increasing popularity of food trucks. The new amendment gives food trucks guidelines and structure within the Central City District of Gainesville. Food trucks must be licensed to operate by the state and must get approvals from the city and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Food trucks must also comply with state and county health department licensing requirements for preparing and selling food.
