Picking a college roommate has never been easier, thanks to the Facebook App Roomsync. Gone are the days of being woken up at 3 a.m. by your nocturnal roommate, or arguing over the cleanliness of your dorm or accusations of stealing your roommate’s food from the mini fridge.
Launched in 2009 by former University of Florida employee Robert Castellucci, the app has a better way to pair roommates that isn't based on one or two general lifestyle questions. The app makes students fill out a detailed questionnaire while an algorithm recommends potential matches. Similar programs are being used by universities across the country to give students a chance to avoid having an uncomfortable random roommate experience.
