GAINESVILLE, Florida; July 2, 2018 – UF Health recently announced that they will be opening specialty practices at The Oaks Mall in the 139,000 square foot former Sears space located at 6201 W. Newberry Road. Front Street, a commercial real estate service firm based in Gainesville, represented the UF Health in this transaction. This lease transaction represents one of the largest ever single-tenant, medical office deals in the region.
UF Health will feature three specialty practices at what will soon be known as UF Health The Oaks. These practices will include ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and audiology services, as well as an outpatient surgical center.

With traditional mall anchors trending towards online sales and smaller stores, large vacancies in malls have sprung up around the country, posing a unique opportunity for creative uses to backfill big-box spaces. The Oaks Mall in Gainesville is no exception.

UF Health ophthalmology and otolaryngology services are relocating from the nearby sites, and they plan to remodel the Sears space. Renovations are expected to take approximately a year. This new location will also facilitate future job growth for Greater Gainesville to accommodate this expansion for UF Health.
