"The increase in population size and the city’s plans to make Tallahassee a more travel friendly city are exciting new developments that will have big impacts on the city’s future. I am excited to watch the changes take place" said Associate Director, Flavia Kanyago.
Tallahassee is currently experiencing an increase in population, job opportunities and residential and commercial development. This is fueled by increased student enrollment and retention of recent graduates. Retailers are responding to this and are moving to the area in increasing amounts. They have been touring the market and making plans to expand here. Tallahassee is also becoming more travel friendly. The Tallahassee City Commission recently approved the construction of a 20 megawatt solar farm at the Tallahassee International Airport. This will be the largest solar farm in the state and will reduce airline operating costs, improve the airport’s financial self-sustainability and help attract new air carriers. The airport also introduced a 12 million dollar project to rehabilitate the airport terminals.
New-to-market concepts are always a great thing. But what impact will this have on the city, and what can we expect this year and beyond? Stay tuned next week where we’ll dive into what’s next for Tallahassee.
