12 Days of Giving - 2016

December 7, 2016

It’s that time of year again… Holiday Season! A time of crowded stores, sales, more sales, and gifts and treats galore! But that’s not what the holidays are about in our opinion. This is the season of giving! It’s about time spent with family and friends, time spent together in the kitchen cooking with love, it’s about the memories and traditions that will outlast us all. Just like last year, we wanted to ensure we spread the love and surprised a few folks in our communities with a little holiday cheer! For the next few days we’ll be continuing on with our Front Street tradition; the 12 Days of Giving, where we’ll be carrying out 12 random acts of kindness. We hope this serves to inspire each of you to find time and kindness in your hearts to give back to those in your community! On the first day of giving we donated a holiday feast to a SWAG family in Gainesville, FL!

We're so excited for our second annual 12 Days of Giving! On the first day of giving this year, we decided to give a full Christmas dinner spread to a deserving SWAG (SW Advocacy Group) family. SWAG is a grassroots organization whose goal is to address the needs of the community by connecting individuals and families to services and resources through advocacy and from agency and community partners. SWAG is made up of area residents, advocates and service providers that strive to improve the health and well being of residents in the Tower Road area, just west of I-75. SWAG’s goals include protecting vulnerable children, supporting families, and providing opportunity and resources so adults can realize self reliance and success in life. Click here to learn more about SWAG and how you can get involved with this fantastic organization!

Girls Place mission is to empower girls to grow courageous, strong and self sufficient. They inspire girls to celebrate themselves—their minds, their hearts, and their physical well being. Their vision is that girls become independent women who embrace diversity, express their ideas, rise above obstacles, enhance their communities, and lead those around them. At Girls Place, they believe that all girls should be inspired, challenged and nurtured to become their very best. We hope they have a great time at the game! On the sixth day of giving, we surprised the Tallahassee Police Department with some coffee and pastries!

On the sixth day of giving, we wanted to recognize all the men and women that serve and protect us each and every day. We decided to surprise the Tallahassee Police Department with coffee and pastries in hopes of brightening their day! We honor and thank them for their selfless service each and every day. Thank you for all you do!

On the seventh day of giving, we surprised some outstanding teachers in Ocala with a gift to show our appreciation and provide them with some much needed relaxation!

Being a teacher is one of the most important jobs! Unfortunately, it's also one of the most underappreciated jobs as well. So, for the seventh day of giving, we surprised some outstanding teachers in Ocala with a gift bag of treats and a gift card for a meal out for two, to show out appreciation and give them some much needed relaxation time! Remember to thank your teachers this holiday season - a little gesture can go a long way!

For the eighth day of giving, we donated items on wishlists of children in need at The Centers in Ocala!

For the eighth day of giving, we donated items on wishlists of four children at The Centers in Ocala. These were 4 of 115 precious children living in heartbreaking circumstances who could really use some joy (and basic necessities) this holiday season. All of these kids are receiving counseling from The Centers and have been carefully selected based on true need...meaning they won't receive Christmas without the support of the community. We supported two boys and two girls, ages 2, 7, 8 and 13 and we surprised them with some clothing and toys on their wishlists. The Centers mission is to strengthen lives with compassionate healing. Their vision is exceptional people delivering innovative solutions to create healthier communities. To learn more about The Centers, click here. On the ninth day of giving, we donated a few gifts to the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville to be handed off to families with loved ones actively serving in our Military!

Being away from loved ones is always tough, but it's even harder during the Holiday Season. Because of this, we wanted to help spread some cheer to those missing loved ones this time of the year. We dropped off some gifts at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville to be given to a few families with loved ones serving in our military. It's the least we could do to support the selfless families and citizens that serve and protect us each and every day. We thank you all.

On the tenth day of giving, we made a donation to the Jacksonville Humane Society!

For the tenth day of giving, we wanted to show our love to all the animals out there who make our world a better and happier place! We decided to make a donation to the Jacksonville Humane Society in hopes of helping a little this holiday season. The Jacksonville Humane Society provides care, comfort and compassion to animals in need while engaging the hearts, hands and minds of our community to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals. Many animals are in need of good stable homes all year round. To learn more about this wonderful organization, to volunteer, or to learn more about pets that are available for adoption, click here.
