Santa Fe College to Offer Information Systems Degree

Santa Fe College obtained approval for a new bachelor’s degree program in information systems technology in late August. The bachelor’s program will be one of eight bachelor programs offered at the college, and will expand student opportunities to obtain a 4-year degree at a sensible price. The Florida Board of Education recognizes the hardships that come with a valuable college degree, and is working to provide students with financial opportunities.

The board recently announced that Florida Blue, the Helios Foundation, and Bank of America would donate $1 million to Florida colleges for first-generation students, as well as students going into “critical need” health care fields. Of the $1 million, $31,221 will go to SF College, and will go to students like Chelsey Barnes. Barnes is one of five children, and although she works on campus, she would not be receiving her degree without the scholarship. Thankfully, the scholarship will allow her to graduate in 2016 debt free. Hopefully the scholarship will allow students like Chelsey the means to a valuable education in the future.
