The Villages, which is approximately 60 miles from Orlando, is once again the fastest growing city in the country based on percentage growth. This marks the second year in a row The Villages has taken this title, this year boasting a 5.4% increase. Active seniors, who have convened on the popular retirement community for its numerous amenities, are the reason for the boom in population.
The Villages is not the only city in Florida seeing growth. Five other Florida cities cracked the top 20 fastest growing cities in the U.S. by percentage growth. The largest of these cities is Orlando, which grew by 2.2% year to year. The other cities include Cape Coral, Naples, North Port, and Panama City (each grew 2.7%, 2.5%, 2.2% and 2.2% respectively.)
