Announcement of new Orlando buildings excites OBJ readers

Plans for new office buildings in Downtown Orlando were announced last week, with one project in the central business district and the other in Creative Village. The former’s budget will exceed $80 million, and will be comprised of 10-stories next to the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The project in Creative Village will feature eight to ten stories and 120,000 to 140,000 square feet. However, Ustler Development Inc. is still waiting on funding to start construction of the latter.

Since construction will realistically start next year, both projects are anticipated to finish in 2018. The new buildings will be the first big office projects downtown in a while, so Orlando Business Journal followers have a lot to say about the new spaces. Brian-Marc Whittaker commented on OBJ’s Facebook account, “My spider senses told me yesterday that we are about due for a new office tower downtown.” Many more commented with excitement for the upcoming additions to Orlando’s downtown area.
