Celebration Pointe: Gainesville’s Retail Lifestyle Center

A study at Nielson revealed that 62 percent of millennials prefer to live in “walkable, urban-style, mixed-use communities proximate to their workplaces and to restaurants, shopping and transit.” Celebration Pointe is currently under construction in Gainesville, and will be conducive for this desired millennial lifestyle. The retail lifestyle center will contain residential, business, and entertainment areas.

Gainesville’s SHD Development, Miami’s 1220G, and Atlanta’s RaCo Real Estate Advisors will lead the Celebration Pointe project. The project will be comprised of garden-style apartments, town homes, and flats. In addition, the community area will include Bass Pro Shops, a Hotel Indigo, a movie theater, and 60,000 square feet of corporate space for Info Tech.

RaCo Principal Ralph Conti describes the development as “a suburban site with a variety of urban components that will be dense and highly walkable.” Conti also explains the difficulties in mixed-use projects such as parking separation, shared common areas and the required 24-hour security. “It takes an army of people working together to pull off one of these projects.” Despite these difficulties, Celebration Pointe is planned to open in 2016, giving Gainesville an exciting new area to look forward to!
