Amazon@Purdue, a site located at Purdue University, makes its latest offline venture, by experimenting in brick-and-mortar retail. Students, faculty, staff and alumni can purchase items on Amazon@Perude, a dedicated website, and pick the items up at the physical location. Amazon@Purdue also works for returning.
Amazon’s vice president Paul Ryder said they are trying to bring this program to more universities, so that students can easily pick up their orders with a more flexible schedule, bringing them convenience. According to Purdue’s president Mitch Daniels, another site will be opening this spring. And he said Amazon’s innovation has made those school supplies more affordable for students.
Similar Amazon programs like this are at the University of California, Davis, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Amazon also purchased a store front in NYC, and is currently being tested.
