UF Grown Transport Software Company Creates 100 new jobs in Gainesville

Optym, formerly known as Innovative Scheduling, is a Gainesville based software company that was started by a professor at the University of Florida, Ravindra Ahuja. The company creates software that helps companies such as Wal-mart and Southwest Airlines deliver products globally, more efficiently. The goods transportation market is a multi-trillion dollar market that Optym entered in 1998 when Ahuja came to UF as a professor of network optimization in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Recently, Optym purchased a new office building, Hillside Office Park, for its Gainesville headquarters that is located off of Newberry and Tower road. The new office consists of over 28,000 square feet and will bring 100 new jobs to Gainesville averaging salaries of $70,708. Governor Rick Scott attended Optyms grand opening and congratulated Ahuja on his company’s accomplishment and job stimulus in Gainesville. Scott commented at the event saying, “Gainesville is doing well. We’ve done a lot of job announcements here because you do have a very good chamber. You have very good local elected officials.”

Virginia MacKoul

Virginia is a graduate from the University of Florida's College of Design Construction and Planning with a degree in Sustainability and the Built Environment, and a minor in Urban Regional Planning. Virginia joined the Front Street team in 2011, as an intern. Upon graduation, Virginia joined the Front Street team full-time as the Director of Client Services. Ms. MacKoul’s addition furthers Front Street’s continued growth and expansion within Gainesville and other North Central Florida markets. She was promoted to Director of Marketing in 2014 and now manages the firm’s team of interns and oversees all marketing and branding activity. Virginia was born in Boston and moved to Lee County, Florida in 1997. Virginia graduated her high school's International Baccalaureate program and started at the University of Florida with a focus on Architecture. Virginia shares Front Street's passion of giving back to the community and those in need. Virginia's hobbies include photography, cooking, football, movies, music, and spending time with her dog, Brinkley.
