North Florida Regional’s New CEO to Develop Community Presence

Brian Cook, an experienced HCA executive, is the new North Florida Regional Medical Center chief executive officer. Cook’s vast previous experience includes being owner of Chick-Fil-A in Palm Beach Gardens, chief operating officer at two hospitals, and CEO at Parkridge East Hospital. Given all this experience, Cook is wasting no time making changes to North Florida Regional. The hospital hopes to present its first postgrad training program for medical students in July. Additionally, Cook plans to add a pediatric emergency room, which will support the hospital’s capacity for patients. But out of all these new changes, Cook strives to expand the hospital’s presence in the community.

Cook expressed interest in living in Gainesville long-term, and as a “politician of the hospital”, the CEO realizes the importance of being an active part of the community. Cook is excited about being an active member in groups such as the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, and the March of Dimes. While the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business in the Gainesville region, the United Way and the March of Dimes strive to help children around the country through economic and health related means. With a family of his own, Cook recognizes the importance of giving back to the youth. The hospital will also expand its community presence with clinic sites.
