United Way of North Central Florida announced the new officers to the executive committee of its boards, naming Front Street Managing Director Nick Banks as Vice Chair! United Way is a Florida nonprofit corporation organized for the purpose of advancing the common good by focusing on education, income and health. United Way leads the community to focus on issues and build solutions through giving, advocating and volunteering. The new officers are:
Board Chair: Kay Ayers, senior vice president of member services, human resources and facilities for AvMed
Vice Chair: Nick Banks, managing director of Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group
Finance Chair: Kenneth Kurdziel, a partner at James Moore and Company
In other news, Florida Municipal Power Agency re-elected Bill Conrad as chairman of its board of directors for his second term. Along with holding the position of mayor for Newberry, Conrad has served on the board of directors since 2009.
Cox Communications hired Todd Kane as the new media consultant for the Central Florida advertising division. Kane joins Cox Media after eight years at MARCOA Publishing Inc. as a publication manager in San Diego.
Phalanx Defense Systems LLC announced Eric Johnson as executive vice president of sales and marketing. Johnson is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He brings more than 20 years of sales and leadership experience to the position.
The Capital City Bank Group Foundation reinvested $6,000 into the 2014 grant cycle for the Alachua County community. The foundation is a nonprofit organization that invests in charitable nonprofit organizations and institutions. Capital City Bank Groups’ past investees are Alachua County Historic Trust: Matheson Museum Inc., Children’s Home Society of Florida Mid-Florida Division and Family Promise of Gainesville, Florida.
eTect Inc. won the fist prize in the health and wearable technologies category at the second annual South by Southwest venture competition. eTect Inc. is a communications technology company that develops applications for a wireless communications platform.
