Front Street Tours The Child Advocacy Center

On Friday, July 11th the Front Street Team was lucky enough to have the opportunity to tour the Child Advocacy Center here in Gainesville. We enjoyed our time there, but we ended up learning so much more than we ever expected. It was quite an enlightening experience and one we won't forget. The mission of the Child Advocacy Center is a comprehensive, child-friendly facility where professionals from law enforcement, medical, child protection and therapeutic services effectively collaborate to meet the individual needs of child victims and break the cycle of abuse. This collaboration professionals expedites each child's time in the legal system and ensures that children are not re-victimized by the system and that they and their families are provided the support and services needed.  Their vision is a compassionate community where families thrive, children are safe, and victims receive the resources they need to heal. Additionally their values are Safety, Support, Solutions, Success, and they satisfy their mission, vision and values every day.

More than 2,000 children are confirmed as victims of child abuse in Alachua County each year. Too often these young victims are further traumatized by the very system designed to help them. The Child Advocacy Center provides a child friendly, safe and supportive environment for abused and neglected children. They create a community of support to uplift and these children who have already been through enough. It was an enlightening afternoon. Front Street looks forward to staying involved with the Child Advocacy Center, and we encourage you to do the same!
