Piesanos opening 3rd Gainesville location; Vellos expanding

Have you heard the great news? Piesanos Stone Fire Pizza will soon be opening their third location at the former Beef O' Brady's in the Holiday Inn at the corner of University and 13th!  Currently Piesanos calls Millhopper and Tower Square home, but we couldn't be more thrilled to hear of the third location! Remodeling is underway and they hope to be open by August. What can you expect from the new Piesanos? Well the food will be just as delicious as always, "but the beer selection will be expanded to 40 or more craft drafts, plus many more by the bottle!"

In other local restaurant expansion news; "Vellos — which has been open for about three years at 115 SE First St. in Gainesville — went from 3,500 square feet to 6,000 with the addition of the former Glamour on the Go location. An interior door was built to connect the two."

This expansion should help on the weekends and in bad weather when outside seating cannot be utilized. Owner Shawn Shepherd mentioned "We were catching ourselves turning away guests regularly (because) we just didn’t have the seats and our wait times were long because a 90-seat restaurant is a whole lot harder to turn over than a 170- to 180-seat restaurant.” To read the full article from The Gainesville Sun, click here.
