Bass Pro Shops to Open in Gainesville at Celebration Pointe

Late Friday afternoon Bass Pro Shops, large retailer of a hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and other outdoor gear, announced plans to open a new 80,000 sf store right here in Gainesville, FL. Bass Pro Shops is planned to open in 2016, and will be the new anchor for Celebration Point, a 1 million square foot mixed-use development. The new facility will be the 13th in the state of Florida and will be located at the Northwest quadrant of Archer Road and Interstate 75.

The new center will have direct frontage on I-75 and will attract sportsmen and women alike. Between Lake Kanapaha, multiple conservation areas and countless creeks and lakes, Gainesville will provide an ideal setting for the retail giant. The City of Gainesville and surrounding areas serve to benefit as well. Bass Pro Shops is known for their exceptional customer service, community involvement and environmentally conscious initiatives and outlook. "Nationally, Bass Pro Shops will host more than 116 million people visiting their 85 stores and marine centers across America and Canada this year.  The average customer stays 2.5 hours and drives an average distance of 50+ miles.  Bass Pro Shops was named by Advertising Age magazine as one of the Top 10 Hottest Brands in America along with name brands such as Old Spice, M&M's, iPad and Droid" ( 

Bass Pro is expected to attract other large businesses to establish presence in Gainesville and will not only create jobs, but enhance overall economic development within Alachua County as well, said Lee Pinkoson, Chairman of the Alachua County Commission. "When we (established) the vision for Celebration Pointe, we could not have hoped for a more perfect tenant to serve in the spotlight as the primary anchor," Ralph Conti, a partner in the development project, said in a Bass Pro Shops news release (The Gainesville Sun).

Virginia MacKoul

Virginia is a graduate from the University of Florida's College of Design Construction and Planning with a degree in Sustainability and the Built Environment, and a minor in Urban Regional Planning. Virginia joined the Front Street team in 2011, as an intern. Upon graduation, Virginia joined the Front Street team full-time as the Director of Client Services. Ms. MacKoul’s addition furthers Front Street’s continued growth and expansion within Gainesville and other North Central Florida markets. She was promoted to Director of Marketing in 2014 and now manages the firm’s team of interns and oversees all marketing and branding activity. Virginia was born in Boston and moved to Lee County, Florida in 1997. Virginia graduated her high school's International Baccalaureate program and started at the University of Florida with a focus on Architecture. Virginia shares Front Street's passion of giving back to the community and those in need. Virginia's hobbies include photography, cooking, football, movies, music, and spending time with her dog, Brinkley.
