Locally created app Earhoof packs a lot of musical punch

Apple has named Psicada’s musical app one of the best new apps after it’s launch in March. Psicada is a Gainesville-based company that specializes in software development. The new app, Earhoof, combines music and technology with 80 built-in instruments or pre set sounds. The app is designed to be played as a stand alone, virtual instrument on an iPad. It is a way to create new instruments by combining multiple sounds and effects. After music is created on the app, users can easily import their music onto other devices.

Brendan Regan, a Gainesville native who has a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Florida, created Earhoof. He is the software developer, designer, and programmer of the app. Regan’s interests were always in music technology and how technology pushes people to create music.  The app has a few technical issues Ragen is currently solving and he is planning to add new features to Earhoof in the future.
