iG: Grooveshark Represents Gainesville on a National Level at SXSW Showcase in Austin, Texas

Gainesville based company Grooveshark represented the regions growing technology industry at the 2014 SXSW showcase. The company was founded in 2006 by Sam Tarantino and Josh Greenberg and is now one of the world's largest on-demand music streaming services. Grooveshark has recently partnered with Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and other tech leaders to promote the growth of tech companies in the region.

Grooveshark, one of the world’s largest on-demand music streaming services, teamed up with Mass Appeal for this year’s official artist showcase at SXSW (South by Southwest). The Gainesville-based company was launched in 2006 by founders Sam Tarantino and Josh Greenberg, and offers an open platform enabling artists, labels, and content owners to share and promote their music with a worldwide audience, averaging over 17.6 million users per month.

Multi-platinum artist Nas headlined the event, taking place at 8pm on Friday, March 14th at Austin Music Hall. Joining Nas were a variety of artists including Flying Lotus, B.o.B., A$AP Mob, Captain Murphy, Thundercat, BadBadNotGood, Boldy James, Cali Smoov, Bishop Nehru, and Mick.

Grooveshark’s headlining appearance at SXSW put Gainesville’s growing technology industry on a national stage. Greenberg has recently partnered with other tech leaders and the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce (FL) to lead the growth of technology companies in the area with the newly-formed Gainesville Area Technology Council.

Nick Banks

Nick created Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group in 2002 and spent the first eight years developing and acquiring office and retail projects in South Florida as well as North Central Florida. In 2010 the focus of the firm was shifted to primarily serve third party clients and perform brokerage, property management and mortgage banking functions. Nick has personally developed and acquired nearly 200,000 square feet of office and retail properties in markets throughout Florida. He is also a recent graduate of Leadership Gainesville which is a year long leadership program hosted by the Chamber. He is a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he has served as finance chair and as a member of the leadership council. Nick serves as an advisory board member of the University of Florida Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies. Nick was recently named chair of the Gainesville committee for the North Florida chapter of Urban Land Institute (ULI). He is a licensed real estate broker in the State of Florida and is a long time member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
