Earth Fare, an organic supermarket, is coming to Gainesville in 2015. They have stated their new location will be located along Archer Road.
From The Gainesville Sun
Earth Fare, an organic supermarket chain, is expected to open a Gainesville store in February 2015, said Brian Kaufman, manager of the Tallahassee location.
Kaufman said the store is coming to Archer Road, but he did not confirm an exact location. Earth Fare representatives did not respond to a request for comment.
One possible location is the University Towne Center along Southwest 34th Street near Archer Road. An expansion project on 5.3 acres of vacant land east of Carrabba’s is bringing in new tenants, and Nick Banks, managing director of Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group, said in January that the developer was working with a grocer and national retailer.
Steven Siegel, president of Argate Properties in Miami Beach, the developer working on the University Towne Center project, said construction should begin by early August and the first space should be delivered to a tenant by February or March 2015.
Siegel said he’s negotiating with a possible tenant, but he did not release any names. Plans for the remainder of the land are still under discussion.
“It’s kind of fluid at this point. As you can appreciate, our first objective is to nail down anchor space,” he said.
Siegel said he has had his eye on Gainesville for several years, especially this very location.
Earth Fare describes itself as a healthy supermarket known for its strict food philosophy, which bans products with high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, artificial colors and sweeteners, and synthetic growth hormones, according to its website. Products that aren’t allowed on its shelves are added to the “boot list.”
Based in Fletcher, N.C., Earth Fare has 31 locations in nine states. Kaufman said the chain is looking to expand to other Florida regions from its one location in Tallahassee.
