An investment group out of New York City recently purchased a large commercial retail building in Ocala for more than $20 million! The building purchased, Shady Oaks Shopping Plaza, currently is occupied in retail such as Burlington Coat Factory, Best Buy and Staples.
This purchase is significant because it is an indicator that Ocala’s commercial market is worth investing in and that large investment groups see growth in Ocala’s future. Bartow McDonald, a commercial real estate managing director in Ocala, sees this purchase as a good sign for Ocala’s future. He explains that Ocala is usually a third option as far as a Florida cities to invest in commercial real estate, so this is indicative of growth.
