New Stores, Hotels, and Dealerships Come to Gainesville

Burlington opened its first Gainesville location in September, and Charming Charlie opened in October at The Oaks Mall. A Venice hotel developer acquired the Oak Park office building. While Murphy Express begins construction on its new gas station on Northwest 13th Street, Main Street gets a new CarMax dealership.

Burlington’s first Gainesville location opened Sept. 26. The store, located at 2643 NW 13th St., occupies 65,000 square feet. Burlington, formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, is a department store that includes ladies dresses, suits, sportswear, juniors, accessories, menswear, family footwear and children’s clothing. The department store also offers Baby Depot Furniture, accessories, home décor, gifts and coats.

The Oaks Mall has a new tenant, Charming Charlie. The grand opening for the store was Oct. 27. Founded in Houston, Texas in 2004, Charming Charlie offers jewelry, handbags, eyewear, scarves, shoes and other items. Job openings for managers and sales associates are being advertised on its website.

A Venice hotel developer acquired the four-story Oak Park office building. Located at 2002 NW 13th St., the property was bought by Gainesville Alz Inn, a new partnership between RW Marina Hotel & Plaza LLC, at auction for $726,000.

Northwest 13th street will get a new gas station in early December. Murphy Express started construction on the stand-alone facility. The gas station will have a 1,300 square-foot convenience store instead of the normal Murphy USA kiosk style station.

CarMax, a used-car superstore, is coming to Gainesville. The store is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2016 at its new location on 4185 N. Main St. CarMax will have 45,000 square foot for a sales and service building, a 3,700-square-foot car wash and a dealership exclusive gas station.

Nick Banks

Nick created Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group in 2002 and spent the first eight years developing and acquiring office and retail projects in South Florida as well as North Central Florida. He is also a recent graduate of Leadership Gainesville which is a year long leadership program hosted by the Chamber. He is a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he has served as finance chair and as a member of the leadership council. Nick serves as an advisory board member of the University of Florida Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies. Nick was recently named chair of the Gainesville committee for the North Florida chapter of Urban Land Institute (ULI).
