The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. These diseases, the Nation's No.1 and No.4 killers, claim more than 813,804 American lives a year.
This year, Front Street’s Nick Banks has the honor of serving as the 2013 Alachua Heart Walk Chairman. Each year, fundraising for the Heart walk help support projects like putting up-to-the-minute research into doctors’ hands so they can better prevent and treat heart disease among patients. Groundbreaking pediatric heart and stroke research. And getting life-saving information to those who need it most. The American heart Association’s Mission is Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
By 2020, their goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent.
Front Street is honored to be a part of the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk leaders. We were honored to participate last year and were quite excited when Nick Banks was nominated to be this year’s chair. Anyone can get involved, create a team, and donate. Front Street’s Team has already raised over $2,500.00 towards their goal of $10,000.00. To donate or visit our team page, click here!
