Front Street’s Nick Banks appointed to the Advisory Board for University of Florida Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies

Recently, Nick Banks, managing director of Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group, was named as a member of the Advisory Board for the UF Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies. The Bergstrom Center for Real and Advisory Board has embarked on a strategic vision to be the best academic real estate program and research center that will lead the real estate industry well into the future.

“I’m honored to be a part of the board,” said Banks.  “I’m a firm believer that my personal and professional growth has always come through service.  Membership on the board is an opportunity to serve the MSRE students in the program, serve the University of Florida, and serve our industry.  I consider it a privilege to be able to mentor students and help them in their commercial real estate careers.  Over the last several years I’ve had the opportunity to interact with many students in the real estate program and I look forward to providing guidance and career advice to them on a more formal basis now as a member of the advisory board.”

Housed in the Warrington College of Business Administration, Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate, the Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies has fostered interchange between academics, research, students, and the real estate industry for over 30 years. At its core, the Center supports the University of Florida’s Nathan S. Collier Master of Science in Real Estate program (MSRE). This program is a ten month in-residence graduate program that produces thirty new industry leaders each year.

The program is led by two of the most recognized names in real estate education, Dr. Wayne Archer and Dr. David Ling. Their text book, Real Estate Principles: A Value Approach is the number one selling real estate textbook in the country. Because of their work and leadership, the MSRE program is already considered one of the best in the country.

“The Bergstrom Center provides a unique opportunity to mentor and shape some of the most promising students in the country” says Craig Sher, Executive Chairman for the Sembler Company. At the heart of the Center’s success is the Real Estate Advisory Board.

The Board consists of 130 of the best minds in the real estate industry, committed to the vision of building the best university based program in the United States. Senior leaders in industry organizations representing all aspects of the real estate market including appraisers, attorneys, brokers, consultants, contractors, developers, lenders, and investors. They span every asset class.

The mission of the UF Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies exists to support and enhance the UF Real Estate Program by connecting the program to the real estate industry in Florida and elsewhere.

Some goals of the Advisory Board include expanding and enhancing the mentoring program, help the UF Real Estate program gain more visibility to prospective students, industry leaders and the academic community. Increase scholarship support for students, and to continue to develop a strong and sizable undergraduate program in Real Estate.
